April Lynn Nelson
April Nelson, Miss Louisiana's Outstanding Teen 2008,
is a sixteen year old junior residing in Mandeville, Louisiana.
She attends Fontainebleau High School in Manderville,
and is a third year student at the New Orleans Center
for Creative Arts-Riverfront in New Orleans. April's platform
is "I.O.U." - Improving Others and U through
Volunteerism. The program stresses the importance of taking
advantage of opportunities to give back to one's community.
In addition to maintaining her status as an "A"
honor roll student, April is also a member of the National
Honor Society, National Honor Roll, National Society of
High School Scholars and Who's Who Among High School Students.
April has also been honored by being selected as a member
of the All State and District Honor Choirs. She is very
involved in the arts in many ways, from her performance
in plays to singing the Nation Anthem at sporting events.
April is a dancer and accomplished vocalist.
April has been volunteering her time to better her community
since the age of eight. Her volunteer efforts go hand
in hand with the goals of the Miss Louisiana's Outstanding
Teen Organization which are to serve the young people
across the state of Louisiana be promoting scholastic
achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and
community involvement.
